Movies can be addictive – you can’t help watching weekly, then daily, and then some more. And if you wean yourself off them for, let’s say, months or even years, there’s always the relapse issue. Personal experience screaming here folks!
Now when I was growing up, watching a movie wasn’t that easy. You had to rent it – means spend money each time you watched one – or wait for one to come on the television. That has long changed. Now it’s the digital age where you are one click away from the next movie. In short, you are just a flick away. Hence the name filmospheric.
No, I didn’t really coin the term filmosphere. Just thought I had when brainstorming for a unique name and saw somebody already had a social media page with that name in some language. But filmospheric wasn’t there. So it became a thing here. And why not? There are enough movies and movie paraphernalia (wait, this site could have been filmphernalia) to legitimize the derivation of filmospheric – much like biospheric from living beings and atmospheric from the air mass around us.
Now why Filmospheric? What’s the use anyways? For one, it’s about location through a medium. Much like planes, gliders, and balloons offering rides through the atmosphere, Filmospheric is a new ride through the filmosphere. Different rides have different views for the passenger. Expect the same here. Depending on where you land and your own sight, the words and visuals here would offer a variable view of the flick you have seen or will see because the view you enjoy here is too compelling.
The Filmospheric rides are starting for free. They are meant to remain free all the way. In a world where you pay for everything, or at least every good thing, offering some goodies for free in the spirit of appreciation for the creativity of filmmaking is worth it. So unbuckle yourself, grab your popcorn (or whatever you love to munch on), and make the next flick your destination in Filmospheric. Happy relapse!
